Message from the President

Greetings! Welcome to the website of the “Illustrious Iota Lambda Omega Chapter” of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. We are delighted you have taken the opportunity to visit our website. Iota Lambda Omega (ILO) has been an integral part of the Howard County community since 1972. We have a rich 45-year history of service and more than 200 -chapter members.

We are a chapter of dedicated professional women that promote the values, mission, and motto of our beloved organization, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. We proudly wear pink and green as we foster sisterhood, scholarship and service in all the work that we do to implement the International Program Targets. Chapter members are constantly working to fulfill the organizations’ mission, “Service to all mankind” through creative program initiatives, community engagement and community partnerships. Our current International Program, Launching New Dimensions of Service℠ focuses on programs in five target areas: Educational Enrichment, Health Promotion, Family Strengthening, Environmental Ownership, and Global Impact.

Our website is a resource for you to learn more about our organization’s history, and the program events we implement in the community. Please peruse our public calendar to see what events are open to the public of which we invite you to attend and participate. I invite you to visit and connect with our social media sites to stay abreast of what ILO is doing.

Your support, whether you are attending an event, donating items or providing financial support to our events or our Pearl Foundation, Inc. (our fundraising affiliate) will enable us to continue to provide community service and do great things in Howard County! Our growing partnerships with various organizations and agencies continue to allow ILO to provide a unique brand of service that has made a true difference in the lives of individuals.

If you are looking for a progressive and service-oriented chapter, ILO is the chapter for you! If you are a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® who has recently graduated from college, a general member, a member who has relocated to the area or a member looking to reactivate and would like to affiliate with a graduate chapter, I invite you to join us.

Again, thank you for visiting our website and we hope it is a valuable resource to you.

Serving Sisterly,

Peni Webster-Lewis, President
